General Questions

HOW MUCH DO YOUR SERVICES COST?

Each project is different, so the overall price varies as well. Once we discuss your project goals and budget, and I have a good understanding of your needs, I'll prepare a proposal for you with a list of services I recommend in addition to the overall estimated cost. 

IF I NEED HELP PRINTING FINAL FILES, OR FINDING A PRINTER, CAN YOU HELP ME?

Yes, of course! I happen to be a huge paper lover/nerd and am very familiar with many different kinds of printing methods. I also have several trusted vendor partnerships with printers and paper suppliers so I would be more than happy to make print recommendations and help make everything come to life. And to keep it simple, I manage all communication between our vendors and clients. But, please note that all print costs, as well the remaining invoice balance, are due before items are sent to the printer.

WHAT'S YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?

After the initial conversations, and once the deposit is received, I'll ask you  to fill out a detailed questionnaire so I can get as much information as possible to start developing the look + feel for your brand or event. I create mood boards and sketch overall concepts to establish a clear direction. Once everyone is on board with the look + feel, the design work and copy writing begin. Concepts are emailed to you in a presentation and a phone call can be scheduled to go over everything together. Once feedback has been provided, we make updates and adjustments to get it just right. After final approval is given, I'll send you a proof, files are finalized and then sent to either you, or the printer, programmer, etc. 

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE MY PROJECT?

Like costs, timelines vary from project to  project. Most projects are scheduled to have three reviews and you are typically given two to three business days to look everything over and provide feedback. But, to make sure we all on stay on track, I provide a detailed timeline in the beginning to keep everyone accountable. 

DOES EACH PROJECT COME WITH UNLIMITED REVISIONS TO MAKE SURE I LOVE IT?

Yes and no — this is a tough question. Typically each project is scheduled to have three rounds of revisions. This way you have a few chances throughout the process to give input and feedback. It's been my experience that three rounds works out quite well for both the client and the designer/writer. However, if final approval is not given in the last round, and you request additional changes, these will be billed at an hourly rate, and added to the final invoice. 

WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT POLICIES?

To begin the project, I request a non-refundable 50% deposit of the total estimated cost (outlined in the proposal and project scope we agree on). This deposit reserves my time and pays for the many hours put into research and design before anything is even shown to you. Upon completion of the project, an invoice for the remaining fee will be delivered. I currently accept online payments, Chase QuickPay or PayPal transfers and checks.


Brand Development Questions

WHAT IS BRANDING, AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

Branding is so many things... it's what your business looks and sounds like,  it's how customers feel about you, it's the products you sell and the services you offer, it's everything your business is and wants to be. Your brand should tell a consistent story, from the logo design, to the words on your website, to the uniforms your employees wear. Branding has a place in every part of your customer's experience, which is why brand consistency is key. 

WHAT IF I JUST WANT A LOGO?

I always recommend developing the brand — design elements like color, typography or graphics should be used to support the logo and tell a story. Having a great logo is important, but it's only one piece of the puzzle to ensure a cohesive brand experience for your customers. Of course every project and client need is different, so I'm always up for a conversation about all sorts of projects. 

WHAT IF I HAVE A LOGO OR BRANDING BUT NEED HELP WITH MARKETING MATERIALS OR A WEBSITE?

I'd love to help! We can take your logo and add branding to further develop the look + feel of your business or follow along with the branding you have in place. We can also refresh your logo and/or identity with any changes you might need. 

HOW WILL I RECEIVE FINAL FILES?

Once final approval is given, your logo will be saved in a variety of formats. This makes it easy to use your new mark on many types of projects and meet any vendors' needs. Logo files, as well as a short brand standards document highlighting the logo, colors and suggested typography, will be delivered to you via email through a WeTransfer link once final payment is received. Logo files will be submitted as EPS, JPG and PNG files and will include color, grayscale and reverse white versions. Other designs, like business cards or letterhead, will be handed over as high quality PDFs, with bleed and crop marks if necessary. Please note, native source files and fonts will not be included, however, links to purchase the recommended fonts will be available in the brand standards document. Please store these files safely as there will be additional charges to resend materials if they become lost.

CAN I CREATE A CUSTOM BRAND PACKAGE? THE LISTED OPTIONS DO NOT WORK FOR ME.

Oh yes! These packages are just for reference. We can do anything and everything you need. If you need hang tags for your shop, coasters for your restaurant, exterior signage, etc. we'll add it to the list and give you pricing so you can make your decision with as much information as possible. 


Website Questions

WHAT WEBSITE PLATFORMS DO YOU WORK WITH?

All websites will be designed in SquareSpace or WordPress. SquareSpace has several templates to choose from and we can customize most things to fit your needs. WordPress has even more options and flexibility with hundreds of themes to choose from. Custom built sites from scratch are also available and will be built in Wordpress as well.

WHO PROGRAMS THE WEBSITES YOU DESIGN?

I currently work with two different programmers, based on the project and their availability. 

WILL MY WEBSITE HAVE SEO OR META TAGS?

It sure can. If you choose to add copy writing and content strategy to the project scope, SEO and meta tags can also be created by the copywriter.

WILL I BE ABLE TO EDIT MY WEBSITE ONCE IT'S FINISHED?

Yes, typically I like to schedule a conversation at the end of the project to go over a few editing basics so you have the tools you need to make your own updates. If you'd rather not be in charge of this, I'm happy to make updates for you for an hourly fee.

DO I HAVE TO WRITE ALL THE CONTENT FOR EVERY PAGE, OR CAN YOU HELP WITH THAT?

I work with an amazing team of copywriters who specialize in brand voice, content strategy and consistency. Depending on scope, they can combine existing content with new copy or start fresh with updated brand language to help define your business through the written word.


Invitation Questions

I LOVE GOLD FOIL AND LETTERPRESS INVITATIONS I SEE ON PINTEREST, CAN YOU DO THAT?

I sure can, they are my favorite too. Specialty printing styles like that are my printer's cup of tea. As long as time and budget allow, the sky is the limit when it comes to foil stamping, engraving, letterpress, thermography, blind embossing, edge coloring, diecutting, and of course, paper + envelope colors and styles.

I NEED SAVE THE DATES, INVITATIONS AND DECOR, DO YOU DESIGN EVERYTHING AT ONCE?

I love working on event projects from start to finish — I think guests really do notice when the design is cohesive and beautiful from the invitation in the mail, to the special decorations at the event, and the matching thank you notes when everything is over. But, typically I like to break up the project into a few parts. It's easier to schedule and it helps break up the total cost into several payments. It can also be tricky to work on custom day of signage, like place cards and seating arrangements, without knowing the total guest list, etc.

IF I CAN'T AFFORD CUSTOM WORK, DO YOU HAVE ANY PRE-MADE DESIGNS AVAILABLE?

Not yet, but I'm working on it! My goal is to have an Etsy shop full of fun and beautiful invitation designs, with matching decor, at a lower cost, to give clients more options at different price points. Stay tuned!
